Become the water

My suggestion of the week, Cross Code!. There's a demo as well if you want to try it.

This game caught my eye at PAX this year, I stopped at the booth, started a new game, played 5 minutes and made up my mind that I'd probably stay there all day if I didn't leave now. It got my attention immediately, and curious as to where the story goes.

So this weekend I bought it, and played a good part of it. It's quirky, it's fun, and it's kinda tough too, not unlike other games I played (like Ys). Bosses are often about being patient and finding the opening, just bumrushing is a quick trip to the respawn point.

The writing is golden too. It doesn't take long for people to mess with you, like this comic here. This is almost word for word something that happens in the game. When an NPC sitting next to a fountain tells you to 'become the water', you think there might be something hidden or a secret of some kind. Thing is, you don't float apparently, and get tossed back on shore nearby, minus some HP (which isn't a problem when not in battle at least).

So you talk to the NPC again, and he tells you 'That's not how you become the water". Geez, ya think? Thanks for nothing, buttmunch.

Definitely suggest giving this game a twirl!
