New expansion and they messed up a few things, including how many people can get into instanced solo fights at a time. Now picture this, there's different kinds of queues. Those for dungeons will take entire parties, so 4 or 8 people at a time. Those had a bit of trouble but overall could have bee much worse. The solo instanced though, bad. Very bad. Imagine a race with 10,000 people with several checkpoints where you need to get a stamp. It takes 10m per person to get a stamp, and there's only 30 attendants to give stamps. If the first checkpoint had been far down the road, then people would reach it at different pace, 30 attendants would be enough. But in this case, the first checkpoint was literally about 30 minutes from start of the race, so its mathematically impossible to handle all of the stamps before new people flock in. And since they aren't using a system of 'take a number to get in line', everyone are piling up on top of the attendants screaming 'stamp me!' while sticking their arms out, with some 1000 people at a time stuck there. It could have been handled much better, but server stability was okay otherwise. We just wasted almost 2 days not able to progress properly. So that's what the Rau-block is, as the first of these instance fights was through an NPC called Raubhan. People dubbed it 'Raubhan Extreme Mode'. And if you managed to clear Raubhan Extreme, his son Pippin Extreme followed almost immediately. RIP servers. |
