Title: Bad Decisions Were Made
Post by: Celedh on January 29, 2017, 11:42:22 PM
(http://theunoriginalcomic.overminddl1.com/images/Celedhbutton.png)This came to mind after Friday's comic. Lots of video games in general seem to have taken a weird turn in the past years. I understand a few things though, like the market changed, the way they make games is more complex than ever, AAA titles need budgets like Holywood movies...

But if you take the time to make these big games, why is some companies seemingly hating money? Or is there something we don't understand buried under the news? Megaman Universe and Legends 3? Why cancel them outright when so far along and under public watch and demand? What about Silent Hill? Who the hell actually asked to turn Metal Gear into a horror survival game? In a parallel universe, are you fucking kidding me?! You thought Kojima was crazy with his nanomachines, Konami went Hold my beer.

Instead, keep pumping up overpriced Collector Editions...

I think megaman legends 3 is one of the games I most wanted to happen, the legends gameplay was just fun...even the 100 multiple choice quiz to get the z-saber was fun, mostly because the reward was great to use.

Clearly metal gear has been stealing the survival horror from the Resident Evil series through the use of nanomachines!

Overall though, it's probably a side effect of a widespread business trend that prioritizes quick and large short term gains over everything else, which works well for the people who make these choices and screws everyone and everything else.  Luckily, as far as gaming is concerned anyway, I think the indie market is doing well so we might be shifting away from some of the worse things??...maybe...
