Kingdom Hearts Series (SPOILERS)
« on: March 07, 2006, 01:39:37 PM »

Das ist der topic for der Kingdom Hearts games. If you spoil KH2 before it is out in the US, or even major plot points *AFTER* it is out in the US, I crucify you. >.<

Anyway, um. I'm playing Chain of Memories right now. I finally beat Hook after like five tries and several disasters with quicksaves and me forgetting about them and such. My only world-card left is Holl... Holler... Holla... *cough* Hollow Bastion. Dangit, out of my head, Goofy.

Hook was the first boss to give me trouble since Hades, and he was allllll the way back on, like... floor 2? 3? Whatever the number of the second world you can go to is. Because I went Traverse Town -> Wonderland -> Coliseum. And Wonderland's been my second to last world card, so. My normal strategy's been basically a game of keepaway-and-outlast, which's worked great so far, but then I ran into Hook and he was way too aggressive with his high cards and his sleights. I had to go on a blitz of moogle room-raiding and retool my deck with like three times the sleights, plus an enemy card (Jafar's, to be specific.) I never use enemy cards. O_o

Anyway, um, yeah. KH, KH:CoM. Discuss, or somesuch.

I hated Hook in CoM. His high cards and sleights were evil, and the fact that the stage rocks back and forth didn't help either. I think in the end i put a bunch of 0's in my deck so i could break him and then hit him with my own sleight when he was open.

*Spoiler ahead*

KH2 is still going to suck...Possibly more than the first, which sucked a lot!

Death. The eternal blink. The capricious dance of Now You Stop Moving Forever. Well, contrary to popular belief, death isn't just for dead people. It can happen to anyone. I know, it's news to me too. And it's not just people either, it's all kinds of stuff. Horses, fiddler crabs. Did you know that even a potato... can die?  -The Tick

I hated Hook in CoM. His high cards and sleights were evil, and the fact that the stage rocks back and forth didn't help either. I think in the end i put a bunch of 0's in my deck so i could break him and then hit him with my own sleight when he was open.

My original strategy was basically a game of keepaway suited to a poor man's deck. As many attack cards as I had and could fit, as few Sleights as possible (Though I did specifically have two Blizzard cards in there for Blizzard Raid), a High Potion and at least two 0 cards. I used it to basically play hit and run/outlast on bosses, and just beat the tar out of normal enemies. I discovered the strategy by accident when I suddenly realized I'd outlasted Hades's ability to use sleights. When I got to Hook, though, he sackbeat me, so I had to shift my strategy. Which meant I had to farm Moogle Points. :/

I changed to one Blizzard Raid, a Curaga, Zanketsuken (triple 0-cards, for uberbreaking action!), Omnislash, and Sonic Blade. I had the starter-cards enough to pull off Sonic Blade twice, plus I threw in an Elixir. I also put in a Jafar (Attack Bracer) card, which I think did me some good. From there it turned into basically my old strategy, except with me powerhousing him whenever he got close via Sleights. Using a Friend card as a sleight opener to conserve cards is handy.

something and whatnot

Omnislash, Curaga, and the friend sleights were the only sleights i used for him, though my omnislash sucked beacuse it only totaled a 10.

in other news, TWO WEEKS TILL KH2!!

I am never going to play CoM. I refuse to buy ANOTHER system. Unless it's gone down to under $100.

The strat guide for this game is FREAKING HUGE. It's an inch thick.

...that's awesome. XD

Also, having finally completed the prologue section, I have but one thing to say.

that prologue was freakin' long. took me about 3 hours to get through it. I'm almost at 10 hours right now tho, so ...yeah.

i also got the strat. guide for it too, limited edition even. though, from my experience, the only use i've gotten out of it are the maps and boss strageties. it could have easily been reduced the size about 25% by making more efficient use of space.

Yeah, there's alot of unused space in the strat guide. It's pretty, though. And rather spoiler-free...

Anyone else notice that Sora's new color-scheme is very similar to Riku's?

And I wonder if those shoes have that "new shoes" feel? :x

Well, I beat it. The ending was good. Now I have to try to get the secret ending.

EDIT OF NON DOUBLEPOSTAGE: Playing through again on proud mode. Thought it would be easier getting the secret ending this way, rather than fustrating myself trying to fill out the journal completely.

...Holy *CRAP* Sephiroth. He hands my ass to me on a silver platter with garnish and a side of mashed potatoes.

Does, uh. Anyone have any concrete strategies for beating him?
