The Unoriginal Comic / #400 - ZA WARUDO!
« on: April 14, 2016, 11:11:35 PM »
Whoo! #400! That only took... Like 11 years? Something like that.A long-ass time. Either way, ecstatic to finally make it this far, and we couldn't have done this without our Patreon supporters, honestly.

Thanks to them, we were able to get a legitimate copy of Flash(finally!) and get this edited and uploaded! Thanks so much!

Please, support us on Patreon! ^^

TUC#400 Credits:
Animation - Celedh + Ayasu
Editing: Ayasu

Megaman: Ayasu
Dante: Peachus (check his shuffling here! - https://youtu.be/RpWe-ujQQ8g)

I made the majority of this, and Ayasu edited it with vastly more Flash experience than I have. It was my first Flash animation ever (Tallest Building + Za Warudo skit). I have much to learn.

That said, this was initially meant to be a GIF animation, but Ayasu said 'That'd be better as a Flash', and since we didn't have a 400 just yet... well that's the result.

That said, the GIF animations themselves were interesting to make too. The first one ended up being scrapped because... well... look for yourself. The idea I had simply wasn't looking good, so I made a second one that was already much better. Always fun to make these though.

The Unoriginal Comic / God Dammit Lyria
« on: April 10, 2016, 11:25:57 PM »
Based off a true story! ...from Saturday night, actually. lol I've been playing Tom Clancy's The Division lately with Flare(my girlfriend) and Lyria(a fellow Dimensional Death member), and so far it's been pretty fun.

Definitely wish that it was a little more interactive with other players in the main game world, though -- the streets are always so barren, and I feel that servers that randomly drop like... maybe 50-100 players in little areas together would be pretty fun.

I know there's the whole Dark Zone stuff, but it'd be nice to see another player without worrying about if they're gonna drop a grenade at your feet. =P

Aya Edit: So, I /may/ have accidentally forgotten to upload the comic to the actual post here. >.> I uploaded it on Patreon for our Patrons(link in the side bar, btw, if you want to help us out!), created the post and then went to bed without actually uploading. -.- I am the best.

I don't play The Division, but isn't clothes/glamour the end game of every game out there?

The Unoriginal Comic / BnS: Red vs Blue
« on: January 28, 2016, 10:54:22 PM »
This was, admittedly, a test to see if I could still cobble together a comic with screenshots. =P Our actors in the comic here, though, are Celedh(the Jin recruiter) and my girlfriend, Flare(the tiny, very pink Lyn). I'm playing a tiny Lyn as well, and since the first person camera is REALLY low to the ground as a Lyn, I had to stand on that boat, and the fence behind Cel to get the shots. >.>

Blade and Soul is still proving to be a pretty fun game so far -- I'm really enjoying the story, and the gameplay. :) If anyone else wants to join us, we're on the Old Man Cho server!

In other news, Flare and I finally got the Deathwing statue we pre-ordered like back in... February of last year? This thing is MASSIVE. Take a look!

Blade & Soul has been pretty interesting, plays a bit like Diablo III control wise, otherwise pretty graphics and a "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" wired kung fu moves. Flashy and satisfying.

Poor Cyber. The truth is painful. ><

So, lately, a bunch of us have been playing Blade and Soul on the Old Man Cho server. It's... shockingly fun, though. Weird F2P system, but the gameplay is, for the most part, pretty fun. It's action oriented and pretty fast paced. Been having fun with it!

Is Cyber reacting to the co-author, or to his life being a lie?

Eh, he'll get over it either way. Hopefully.

*writes future plot ideas*

The Unoriginal Comic / It's Not The Size Of The Panel, But...

THIS. This is something I'd wanted to do for eeeeeeeever. But never got around to it, mostly because 10 years ago, resolution sizes were typically smaller.

I toyed around with a couple different sizes on this, and this is what I settled on -- I decided putting the smaller first panel in the strip would help show the difference in sizes in the old panels, compared to the new ones. :) The width isn't much bigger, but the height allows for easier placement of the text boxes -- especially now that I'm actually making the strips using a slightly larger font size.

Remember when I used to talk about games and stuff down here? I think I'mma start doing that again periodically. :) Not tonite, though -- this blurb's already wordy enough. =P

I honestly hope you all enjoy the new format for the comic, and have been enjoying the new strips. I plan on keeping this going as long as I can, this time -- no end in sight! :D

Probably my first 'worthwhile' contribution to this comic is the 'it's bigger on the inside' suggestion, which Ayasu made even better.

This is more or less the process that's going on for every strip, we have a rough idea, we find some of the best/worst pun or joke to go with it, and then Ayasu makes it live. But Ayasu already had 2 strips done, and already planned out several more. So my contributions were, to put it politely, unnecessary up to that point. But the more new comics we're making the more my help will show (hopefully).

I want to be helpful.

Ta-da! And here I am. :D This is also the reason I've been using such a weird avatar since last week. :3 I didn't wanna give it away.

So, I debated on whether or not I wanted to use the comic itself to talk about this, or if I wanted to just talk about it in today's newspost. It's likely obvious just by Megs's reaction that the "Ayasu" in the comic is a girl. One of the things that's happened in the last 10 years since the updates stopped was I decided to take action on something that I'd come to terms with aaaaages ago -- I'm transgender, transitioning from Male to Female. And yes, I really do actually have Blue and green hair(pretty much just like my sprite =P).

To those who've known me a long time, this is not a shock, but for those older readers who may be checking the comic out again -- that's the quick and easy explanation. ^^

For note, as I change hair colors, I have every intention of changing my sprite's haircolor as well. =P I figure it'll be more fun that way.

I have known Ayasu for the entire time this 'change' happened, so this was more or less one of the first questions that came to mind when she asked me to help with the comic : What happens to Cyber?

The answer is in the upcoming strips, so you'll see.

By rebound we're also tackling Tunod's case, since he's not an author anymore. He may still offer the occasional strip though, who knows.

I have yet to appear in the comic myself, it's like I'm not even there!

Probably because I'm not, this is all Ayasu's work for now.

The Unoriginal Comic / It's Always... ALWAYS... The Face.
« on: January 14, 2016, 09:04:02 AM »
And there's Tunod!

So, this is the first new strip I created since... gah, sometime 2012? Something like that. It's good to be back. :3

Speaking of being back -- Cel and I discussed it, and we're going to actually update the comic Monday/Wednesday/Friday, like the old days. :D I'll update the graphic in the sidebar soon, but make sure to keep checking back for new comics THREE times a week starting next week!!

It's also always Bass. He's a fun target.

The Unoriginal Comic / Blaming the obvious party
« on: January 08, 2016, 11:09:32 PM »
2 strips in and we're already blaming Tunod.

Some things never change, apparently.

Oh and the reason why Cy's playing TOR right now instead of, like... Final Fantasy XIV or LITERALLY ANY OTHER MMO THAT'S NOT TOR is because I /teeeeeeechnically/ made this strip back in 2012. >.> Along with the last strip -- and they fit in perfectly with how I'd planned on rebooting things once Cel and I started talking. Friday's strip will be an ALL new strip -- one that I made just last week. :)

Yes, blame the Co-Author... Wait, that's me right now...

A few things come to mind.

In some of the last strips, they were playing Dr. Light's Wii, Zelda Twilight Princess just came out, Cyber/Ayasu was playing World of Warcraft..

During that period, Ayasu quit FFXI, quit WoW, quit The Old Republic, started FFXIV, semi-quit FFXIV, came back to FFXI...

I think you can count the years by how many game addiction Ayasu had, like the rings on a tree.

Been a while, that's for sure.

The Unoriginal Comic / We're baaaaaack...
« on: January 08, 2016, 10:51:56 PM »

HOLY SHIT A COMIC.

If you didn't see the email that we sent out to everyone recently, please take a look here -- We're back! (Yes, it's on my guild's forums cause old forum software here is old. T~T)

No forreal, this is updating again. No, no, don't be like that -- there's another strip coming on Monday, I promise! D:

But no seriously, welcome back to TUC, everyone! I've finally gotten over my 10 year writer's block(no joke, it's been... not a good last decade. >.>) and am ready to entertain you all again. :D

For those who don't remember or know, my name is Ayasu, the comic author formerly known as Cyber. There've been some... changes over the last few years, and I promise I'll explain as soon as possible. For now, though, let me break down how we're going to do things from here on in --

While we work ahead to try to create a good comics backlog, our update schedule will be Monday/Friday -- this gives us, for now, plenty of time to work ahead and try to get things done.
Unlike before, I won't be doing anymore animations on the 100 marks. When we reach 500, though, I'll try to do something special. :D

It's no longer going to be me and Tunod working on the comic -- and I'm not working alone anymore! I've asked my good friend Celedh to help with creating comics, so we can make sure everything runs smoothly. :)

The whole site, right now, is looking to get a nice overhaul. As you've no doubt noticed, we're still running on the same ol' forums on the same ol' website that we have been for the last, what... 12, 13 years? I'm poking Overmind to help us get things set straight!

I look forward to making these comics again, and I'm SUPER excited to bring TUC back to life. I've missed writing for the characters and bringing them to life for you all!

TL;DR
Comic's back. Gonna be fun. Monkeys are still purple.

And this is me, the new co-author.

Although I had nothing to do with this strip, but I'm here to bounce ideas off Ayasu and make the occasional strip and story arcs.

And most assuredly get blamed by Ayasu when things go wrong. And potentially killed. Repeatedly.

I can't wait.

If you've decided to start reading from the first comic, awesome!

I could totally drop some super old info on how the comic came to be, etc etc, but... Nah -- read on, and have fun! :)

Gasp, 2 comics in one week. I must be insane or something. >.> Yanno, actually updating and stuff.

I've decided to look for a new job soon. This min. wage at GameStop nonsense has lost it's novelty a long time ago. :/ I just can't get by on it, especially since I have no other income. Anyways, enjoy the comic for today.

I wanna take this time to apologize to everyone for the extreme lack of updates.

And THANK everyone who's stuck around on the forums for, well... sticking around.

I kind of got a little overwhelmed by work. I ended up getting into a rotation of sleep -> work -> FFXI -> sleep (lather rinse repeat).

Hopefully, though, I should be able to start cranking things out again, now that this storyline is over.

The Unoriginal Comic / Bus Trap
« on: March 23, 2007, 01:29:38 AM »
This was a joke Jimi and I made months ago, actually. They were doing some construction on the street, in front of a bus stop up the road from us, and there was a big section of it, about the size of a bus, but only like 2 inches deep taken out. One of us(can't remember which) said something about a bus trap, and it just pretty much came out like the comic did here. :3

As for an update of sorts: We got our internet connection back up and running, but my life's just been kinda stressful. From work problems to girl problems to twisting my ankle, I've not really wanted to do much of anything for the better part of the last two months.

But, here's a long over-due update.
