Title: Guild Wars <3
Post by: LuciusIzeldrak on January 08, 2006, 05:36:38 AM
Anyone here play it?  I myself just got it and am in total love with it! Cheers to NCSoft for the great mmorpg.  ;D :D

I'm gonna be honest. I played the Beta and discarded this as rubbish. Honestly, GW is an over-glorified, prettier Diablo.

And I don't like diablo.

'Sides. NCSoft doesn't have a very good track record with MMOs *coughLineage2cough*

The only thing that might be similar to Diablo is the looks, maybe, and the fact it's running off something similar to Battlenet >:D

As for Lineage 2 >_> well, can't judge them by one game.. :P

Okay, I'll judge them by two:

City of Heros.

Don't get me wrong, I loved the character generation engine. Kept me occupied for an hour, just playing with the different things I could make.

Then I got to the game, plays for 20 min. and got bored.

Can't argue there. xD
City of Villans is pretty cool though, especially if yer into the PvP thing.

So far, I've found that the only PvP I can stand is FFXI's Ballista system.

Unfortunately I don't know about FFXI's pvp or anything, have only played it a few times on my cousin's laptop.  I can't keep up with the monthly fee :( since they apparently wont take it in 3 month, 6 month, yearly increments.

No, then do monthly, but still, it's inexpensive. $12.99, +$1 extra for any other characters made. I pay ~$15 every month for it. And my other two characters are just mules. It's a great game, really, it's just they need to do something about the horrid RMT involved in it.

Yeah I know it's monthly, but I can't afford to pay each month, otherwise I'd run to the store (literally get off my chair and run 3 miles) and go buy it, come back and start playing now >:D  I can only afford to pay for online games by large increment plans, like pay for a years worth of fees at a time sort of thing. :(

I think SE does monthly only because it's easier to keep track of billing that way. 'Sides, It's really not as expensive as some MMOs are monthly. But if you do decide to play, lemme know, I'll get you a worldpass and get you into the Linkshell I run. ^^

Cool stuff :) hopefully I can get something worked out to pay for it monthly.  I've really been dying to get it since my cousin let me try it out on his laptop :P I made a Galka Whitemage, oh yeah, that's right, Big brute for a healer, lol.

lol Nothing wrong with that. 'Cept you'll still be wearing your Race Specific Equipment when you're lvl65+. =P Instead of your WHM Artifact armor. Galka RSE has more MP+ than WHM AF does, and believe me, you'll need it. XD I partied with a Galka WHM recently

Lol sounds like good stuff.  :P I want to make another character as a Taru Taru Warrior too lol, I like the more challenging roads.

That's nothin'. One of the Pearlsack holders of my LS, Phillipio, is a Tarutaru Ninja. XD Damn good, too.

I have not played Guild wars honestly.

FFXI is a great game.  Problem is EVERYONE is in your busness cause they feel if your not geared they way THEY want that thier LIFE (and exp) is in grave danger.  Which pigenholes people into certain subjobs/gear.   Also getting anything and I do mean ANYTHING done takes at least 5 others.  And not just any 5 other people.  You need the right classes.  4 monks and a blm (while dps would be great) wont get far.  Sadly right before I quit FFXI I needed one peice of gear for my RDM.  It literaly took a full raid group to get ME one peice of gear.  If any other rdm wanted to get it also we would have to do the event twice.  Very difficult to get anything done, and I was in a great ls.

All that being said.  If I were to only play one game ever again it would be FFXI.  Just because you would need 20 years to get all the classes to level 75 and consider yourself done lol.

Final thought:  FFXI is a great game.  The things I listed were minor greivances about it when I played.  Literaly the good thing about it is how long the game lasts.  Which in my opinion is keeping up with FF tradition.

It's not keeping with tradition, keeping with tradition would be being able to finish it in 40- hours, or find and do everything in 120-.  Instead, in FFXI it takes 120+ hours to get just *ONE* later level... Personal experience.  Some of us just don't have time to waste like that, I have at most two hours a day average, and I generally need to do homework then.
