This thread is for discussion of Shmups, particularly Gradius, ESPECIALLY Gradius V, which is the newest game to get a claw in my soul.

i've never played any of the Gradius series, but i've been wanting to try them.

Pick up Gradius V. It's a beautiful game. Gradius is, like, *the* shoot-'em-up series, like Mario is to platformers, and this particular iteration was developed by Treasure - the people who were made famous by their title Ikaruga. It's fast-paced, frenetic, and tons of fun.
